Quinta de Roriz is one of the oldest and finest estates in the Douro and has been owned by the van Zeller family since 1815.
Historical records show that Roriz was the very first Quinta Port to be exported and the first Quinta to establish an international reputation for the quality of its wines.
During much of the 19th Century, Roriz was considered one of the greatest of Vintage Ports, and it is intended to re-establish this standing in the 21st Century.
Portuguese Press awards prize to Quinta de Roriz Douro DOC Reserva 2004
Quinta de Roriz Douro DOC Reserva 2004 received "The Press Choice Award" for Best Red Wine after being rated first in a blind tasting among other previously selected top Portuguese wines. This coveted prize was awarded by a panel of Portuguese wine expert journalists, and announced by "Revista de Vinhos" during the “Meeting with Wine and Flavours 2008” event, that took place in Lisbon from the 31st October to the 3rd November.

João van Zeller and Cristiano van Zeller announce their association
João van Zeller, the owner of Quinta de Roriz, and his cousin Cristiano van Zeller, announce that they have entered into a new partnership.

The objective is the further development of the legendary Douro property, which has been transmitted directly from father to son in seven generations of the van Zeller family.
This new chapter in the 250 years history of Quinta de Roriz, takes place with vineyards now in full production and immaculate condition, and following the completion of new and high tech wine making facilities integrated in the estate historic buildings which restoration was recently completed.

It also happens in the course of a consistent and impressive track record in world ratings of the Quinta de Roriz Douro DOC reds (“Quinta de Roriz Reserva” and “Prazo de Roriz”) and unrivalled Vintage Ports.
The present association aims at reinforcing Quinta de Roriz’s identity, further enhancing the quality of its wines and improving efficiency in their distribution.
The new team at Quinta de Roriz is lead by Cristiano van Zeller and Sandra Tavares da Silva, who will be taking over gradually from the existing service providers, Symington Family, and will be in full control as from July, and running the Harvest of 2008.
Their talent and international recognition in producing highly rated Douro wines brings a significant added value for Quinta de Roriz.
